Finca Abril is relatively new, found in 1996. However, some of the vines date back to 1922. The two farms are located high up at the base of the Andes in La Consulta, which is located in Valle de Uco in the Province of Mendoza. They prune and thin their vines to ensure low-yields and high quality fruit. The grapes for the Rapsodia come from a single estate vineyard and are hand harvested, fermented in stainless steel for 15 days on the skins, 50% of the wine is aged 12 months in oak (French and American) and 50% in stainless steel. The result is a wine with fresh ripe black fruit, plums and cassis, with some floral notes and hints of chocolate and tobacco. Attractive with good complexity.
