"Roche Audran is foremost a producer of Chateauneuf du Pape, where they make brilliant estate wines in a vineyard side-by-side with their esteemed cult icon neighbor, Chateau Rayas. Additionally, Roche Audran produces a bit of Visan, an appellation which is part of the Cotes-du-Rhone-Villages, situated northeast of Chateauneuf. Their Visan is lovingly farmed in the same manner as the estate Chateauneuf: organically and biodynamically. The result is a striking capture offering layer upon layer of complexity without the weight or force associated with CDP: red and black berries, leather, warm spices, black olive, peppercorn and a distinct profile of earth and herbs. The sensation of garrigue is what makes the wine for me. A sublime partner for all things roasted, from root veggies to lamb."
