"I visited Chateau d’Epire in January of 2019. This old school domaine is located in the village of Savennieres and largely focused around producing extremely age-worthy, seriously pedigreed Chenin Blanc. This, however, is their house red-and the wine is just a gem. This is structured Cabernet Franc, laced with layer upon layer of fine grained tannin and that crunchy black fruit that could only accompany Loire Cabernet Franc. This juice is crisp and mineral and just dying to come with you to your next BBQ. Stick it in the fridge for 30 minutes to bring the temperature down just a hair and drink it over the next 5-7 years--although this charming little wine is great to drink now, it has the backbone to develop over the course of intermediate cellaring. "
