"On January 23rd I spent the morning with Pierre-Henri Rougeot at his micro-negociant operation located smack dab in the center of Meursault where we tasted most of the barrels that he has in a small underground cellar (about the size of the Branchville beer cooler) ranging from Aligote, to Passe-Tout-Grains all the way up the ladder to Corton-Charlemagne.This was a moment I'll never forget. This kid is absolutely killing it. Most of the wines are just a 1-2 barrel production. Pierre-Henri bottles wines in 2 ways: with and without added sulfur although he's not dogmatic about it. Each barrel get what it needs and it deserves-before bottling Pierre-Henri tastes the wines with consideration to sulfur or not to sulfur and the wines decide themselves--Pierre-Henri just listens. Les Plantes du Bois is a parcel of single vineyard in the Cote de Nuits--Les Plantes du Bois means "plants of the forest". This particular bottling sees just a touch of S02 at bottling. Drink it now and over the next 5-7 years."
