"Pascal Janvier started out as a butcher, but when he turned 30 years old, a change of heart brought him to viticultural school in Amboise. Now he produces mind-blowing white wine in the Loire Valley from the little-known appellations of Jasnieres and contiguous 'Coteaux du Loir’. This bone-dry Chenin Blanc is some of the finest in the world. On the nose this wine shows off a brilliant aromas of white flowers, fresh hemp, and a mineral profile with accents of subtle musket flint and granitic dust--all accompanied by a green apple and pear. The palate is punctuated by remarkable acidity, as is characteristic of fine Chenin. One of my favorite Loire whites."
