"I love a pleasant surprise from an old guard Barolo producer. These guys opened up shop in 1870 and have largely stuck to their guns in regards to traditional farming and winemaking. Grignolino is somewhat of an auxiliary grape for the area, often taking a back seat to the heavy hitters like Nebbiolo (first and foremost), Barbera, and Dolcetto. At their best, Grignolino has a tendency toward delicacy, prettiness, and elegance, offering aromas of cherry blossom, bark, and sweet spices. Rinaldi is pretty much textbook. I’d be remiss not to mention enjoyment of just seeing its pale, bricky hue in a wine glass…what a pretty wine in so many ways. No oak, best served with a slight chill. Pair with prosciutto, pesto, and even spicy Indian cuisine. 334 cases made. 93 cases imported. 13%"
