"Maybe the Piedmont seems like an unlikely haven to raise Chardonnay. With its own repertoire of accomplished and soulful grape varieties, why go international? Indeed $18 Chardonnays are a dime a dozen. But there is only one DeForville. This wine is much more akin to crisp clean French Macconais than it is domestic Chardonnay, however, it is always marked by a distinct signature of crispy fresh herbs, almost in the spectrum of 'hops', but never pungent. Its fruit is cool and crispy, apple-driven, and laced with the fine minerality of the Piedmont hills. The vines are 30 years old. The wine is raised entirely in stainless steel. Less than 1000 cases are imported annually. 13%"
