"100% Negrara--a fun new grape variety for me. This is a grape variety that mostly flies under the radar due to the fact that it’s frequently blended and hardly ever leaves Italy’s Veneto which it plays a small role in the production of Valpolicella. From what I can gather--in many vineyards the production from this grape variety is relatively ordinary and in some cases a little un interesting though this particular capture is an exception part and parcel to the high altitude, alpine vineyards which the grapes are farmed lovingly by hand. Notes of pomegranate, baby wild raspberries, and the aroma of high alpine meadow mark its lightweight though textured structure. This is bonafide organic/natural and yet the finished wine is so clean, polished, and correct you’d almost never know. An obvious accompaniment for pizza/pasta, and friendly for a spread of cheese, charcuterie and miscellaneous eclectic snacking."
