"Oof. This is a good one. This stunner comes from the archipelago of Madeira. BUT, this wine has nothing to do with the historical, fortified wines of the region which while interesting in their own right, aren't as useful in my everyday diet as dry crisp whites. This is a dry crisp white produced from Verdehlo (a key local grape) and Arnsburger which is a new grape for me, but it turns out that it’s a crossing of 2 different clones of Riesling...Riesling X Riesling...what you get is Arnsberger, different than Riesling but definitely a kindred sprit. In any case, the resulting wines is driven by fresh cream, lemons, candle wax, fresh linen, and whispers of sage and sea salt."
