With so many Piedmontese specializing in Nebbiolo, it’s easy to miss Diano d’Alba's history of pedigreed Dolcetto. Dolcetto roughly translates to “little sweet one” and when plucked from the vine, its berries are delightfully sweet to the taste, but make no mistake—it produces a wine that is dry, textured, and complex. This example has a pleasant balance of fresh fruit and dusty earth—it's wonderfully approachable young as compared to Nebbiolo.
