"Since 1975 Bodegas Akutain has farmed the family’s Rioja Alta vineyards without chemical herbicides or pesticides. “Cosecha” is their unaged wine, almost entirely Tempranillo with a dollop of Garnacha, fermented in fiberglass using only indigenous yeast and bottled unfined and unfiltered. As a result, this wine is incredibly fresh, earthy, and soulful—offering vibrant cherry fruit layered with notes of dusty earth, leather, tobacco and cola. Made to drink fresh, I have to imagine it will pair seamlessly with a spread of cuisines; it's even a great pizza wine. In warmer months feel free to stick it in the fridge for a spell and enjoy with a slight chill."
