Upon first pour I’m awed by a beautiful velvety rusted Earth hue. The nose is savory, with black walnut and clove combining with freshly cut wood shavings to elegantly entice you in. Actually taking a sip, the first and most notable aspect of this whiskey is a very warm and inviting mouthfeel, full of life and vibrancy. On the nose, and which also comes through on the pallet, nutty black walnut, hint of clove, as well as a suggestion of some black pepper. Very little fruit comes though, although I am left with a trace of figgie sweetness rounding it out. No huge sweet vanilla that you get with typical bourbons; instead, this one blazes forward, distinctive, bold and savory." - Ben Marino, Beer & Spirits Specialist
