"Just a few weeks ago I didn’t know this wine existed. Raptor Ridge is the passion project of Scott and Annie Shul who started as a garage winery, literally hosting tastings in their living room to acquiring several estate vineyards and producing honest wine across Willamette Valley. Their Gruner Veltliner is such a pleasant surprise—sourced from the Tuscowallame Estate vineyard in the Chehalem Mountains where the high altitude Laurelwood soils resemble those of Austria, making this the perfect place to grow Gruner Veltliner. This is fermented in neutral barrels using Veltliner yeast. The end result is squeaky clean and driven by green apples replete with minerality and presents a truly honest and convincing representation of the grape variety. I can see this becoming an Ancona’s staple for many years to come. Just mouthwateringly delicious. Bravo Raptor Ridge."
