"The Pine Ridge Chenin/Viognier is just as much and oddity as a California classic. In the beginning, it was just an experiment. Two unlikely grape varieties. Both French in origin, with little else in common. The Chenin is harvested early, fresh and crisp. The Viognier stays on the vine longer, allowing the fruit to fully ripen and gain richness and concentration of fruit. The blend offers a flawless counterpoint. On the nose: honey, citrus, autumn apples, and little white flowers. On the palate: the richness contribution of the Viognier is balanced by the bright acidic cut of the Chenin Blanc. Pine Ridge makes an utterly unique blend, and yet the harmony is impressive. Pine Ridge has now been making this wine for 20+ years. It’s not expensive. But it’s delicious."
