This multi-vintage field blend incorporates a number of wines aged in barrel, to build a Zinfandel dominant red greater that the sum of its parts. What Marietta does with this wine almost reminds me of what a great Champagne house does to blend a non vintage wine--masterfully orchestrating wine from different villages, different grapes, and different harvests to effectively build a wine of the highest potential possible. And you can't beat it for this money. This is ripened to perfection, which is huge because in this day and age, Zinfandel is prone to over-ripening--and the blending components (although not published) seem to bring it into perfect balance. Pair it up with BBQ, pulled pork, grilled eggplant, or a nice burger."
