"The Space Within: just as much on inside as there is on the outside. This is a unique single barrel collaboration bottled just for Ancona's by California's royal family of Pinot Noir. The concept was born when Jasmine visited in April of 2019. As Pinot Noir goes--this is just about as refined, pretty, and soulful as it gets. There is something so utterly distinct about the way this family shepherds Pinot from vineyard to bottle--more maybe it's in the vineyard. I know they would tell you it's in the vineyard. Hard to beleive David found this cattle farm in the classified section of the San Francisco Chronicle in the 1970s. When David and I sat down for lunch in NYC this past March, pre-pandemic, I asked him to autograph a bottle for me. 'This one must have slipped under my nose', he said and smiled. The wine is a crystalline, seamless, and layered. Reductive and seductive black cherry takes the foreground while nuances of crushed autumn leaves, dark minerality, and graphite dance in the background. 25 cases made--just a single barrel."
