"Pierre-Henri Gadais farms 9 acres in the Nantes -- the homeland of Muscadet -- where he farms organically. Although not stated explicitly on the label, this is 100% Melon de Bourgogne, the signature grape variety of Muscadet, which as it sounds, originally hails from Burgundy. Pierre-Henri calls this particular cuvee 'Nocturne' because it is harvested at night while the fruit retains peak acidity, vibrant flavors, and freshness. Unlike his classical Muscadet, this wine is not aged on the lees and is instead bottled fresh in December of the harvest year. The end result is pretty irresistible -- punctuated by fine citrus, green apples, fresh cream, and subtle wafts of sea salt and fresh linen. A classic pairing for freshly shucked oysters but also well equipped for summer salads, moules frites, and a host of roasted or grilled vegetables."
