"De Forville is one of the great historic names of the Langhe - since 1860, five generations have contributed to the family tradition which holds one of the most steadfastly traditional reputations in the Langhe. The De Forville Lange Nebbiolo is basically de-classified Barbaresco, sourced from younger vines within Barbaresco crus in the De Forville arsenal. I say “de-classified” because the average age of the vines is 30-years-old, which constitutes bona fide Barbaresco if you ask me. And the wine is absolutely electric - this nebbi is light on its feet and driven by crunchy black fruit, black peppercorn and rose petals. Its fragrant, textbook nebbiolo flavors sit on a delicate backbone of medium tannins and freshness. Drink now or over the next 5 years or so. But oh man is it so good now. Around 800 cases come to the states each year. An outstanding value."
