"Deep cherry red instead of the expected inky, viscous purple, the color of the Vine Starr Zinfandel matches the brightness and intensity of the aromas. Raspberries, plums, and black berries just on the cusp of ripeness are perfumed with violets and wild flowers, granitic mineral and dark, dry earth. Tart, concentrated fruit and fine-grained tannins transition easily to a stony, leathery finish. Perfect for whatever might be on the menu; cured ham and salumi, grilled mushrooms, peppery burgers, even seared duck would all be refreshed and complimented by the electricity of this wine. Sustainably produced, un-messed around with, and clocking in at 12.8%, that light, bright feeling remains even after the last sip is gone."
