"What a delight--the Cabernet Franc bottling from Boundary Breaks is right on mark. There's nothing better at the table than balanced Cabernet Franc, but when it's out of balance, there might be nothing worse. With the 2020 vintage, Boundary Breaks achieves the perfect combination of tannin, bright acid, and juicy ease alongside non-fruit complexity. These vineyards are basically located along the shoreline of Seneca Lake which has a distinct moderating effect on the surrounding area (the lake is 700 feet deep). Besides just Cab Franc, this vintage uses a stealth 10% Cab Sauvignon and 5% Merlot to round out its structure. Black cherries, crunchy plumbs, fresh herbs, green bell pepper, peppercorn and just a faint whisper of horseradish harmonize for a classic showing. This was harvested in late October into early November and aged 10 months in mostly neutral French oak. 800cs produced."
