90 Points - Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar "Medium red. Aromas of cherry, mocha, spice and earth, with some high-toned resiny oak. Sweet, juicy and savory, with noteworthy sappy depth and energy to the flavors of berries, smoke and underbrush. At once velvety and serious, thanks to its tightly coiled core of fruit and firm edge of acidity. The palate-coating finish features some sexy earthy low tones, a fine dusting of tannins, and sneaky length. (Incidentally, Martinborough Vineyard did not produce pinot noir in 2005 due to what the U.S. importer described as "quality and quantity issues.")~(ST)
