Around the year 1920 Azienda Stella was found, in Costigliole in Asti, in the heart of the Monferrato. Special care in the vinyeards and traditional winemaking is the focus. Today Giuseppe Stella together with his sons Massimo and Paolo deal with the day-to-day activities. One local grape varietal they cultivate is Grignolino, a thin-skinned light colored grape with nice aromas of cherry and spice. It is medium bodied with excellent structure and balance. It matures in steel tanks for 5 months, Slavonian oak casks for 18 months, and in bottle for about 6 months before release. This is a thoughtful, complex wine.
