"The Maresh vineyard grows some of the most sought after and acclaimed fruit in Oregon. The operations now fall on the shoulders of Jim Maresh, 25 years old. His grandfather bought the land in 1959 and overtime converted orchards to vineyards. He has worked along side well-known winemakers like Lynn Penner from Penner Ash and is committed to making quality wine with quality grapes. When I tasted his 2009 Chardonnay (all fruit from Maresh vineyard) I was blown away by the elegance, finesse, and beautiful acidity to match the powerful fruit. It could defintely stand up to a fine white Burgundy in a blind tasting. The production is very small, so grab a bottle and see for yourself how this young winemaker is rising to the potential of his land."~(Monica McCall)
"The Arteberry-Maresh collection includes one white wine, the 2009 Chardonnay Maresh Vineyard sourced from 27 year old vines. The wine was fermented with native yeasts and bottled without fining or filtration. Medium gold in color, it offers up an impressive array of minerals, hazel nuts, pain grille, butterscotch, poached pear, and tropical notes. In the glass it opens to reveal savory, layered flavors, mineral notes, excellent volume, and a lengthy, fruit-filled finish. Give it 1-2 years to fully blossom and drink it through 2017.
